For the fourth straight season, Duquesne and Pitt split their annual baseball series as the Dukes captured an 8-7 come-from-behind triumph Wednesday evening at Falconi Field in Washington, Pa.
Sophomore Nolan Pena led the Red and Blue's offensive attack, going 3-4 with three RBI while senior Bob Hartle tossed four and a third scoreless relief innings to pick up the win.
The Dukes (17-30, 10-11 A-10) trailed 5-2 after two and a half innings before posting four runs in the sixth to grab a lead they would not relinquish.
Pitt (19-26) scored single runs in the eighth and ninth to get within one run. With a runner on third, relief pitcher Alex Sharick got the final batter on a fly out to center fielder Eric Morrison for his second save of the season.
DU returns to the diamond on Friday as they host Charlotte (29-17-1, 13-8 A-10) at 3:00 pm at Duquesne Field.
