For the second straight day the Duquesne baseball team got solid starting pitching, timely hits and stellar defense en route to a 9-7 victory over Fordham Saturday afternoon at Duquesne Field.
Senior Adam Haun pitched 7 2/3 innings, allowing just two runs while striking out five to earn the victory. Sophomore Eric Morrison just missed hitting for the cycle, going 3-3 with a single, triple and home run. He also scored twice, had three RBI and reached base five times. In addition, Duquesne's defense turned a school record four double-plays.
Other offensive standout performers were sophomore Pat Kimutis who was 3-5 with two runs scored and junior Alex Sharick who knocked in three runs.
The Dukes and Rams will meet again Sunday at noon for the series finale.
