April 28, 2006

Box Score

A six-run sixth inning sparked the Duquesne baseball team to a 10-6 victory over Fordham Friday afternoon at Duquesne Field.

Senior Scott Chisholm gave up two first inning runs, but kept the Rams off the scoreboard for the next six innings while striking out seven to capture the win.

The Dukes managed just one single through the first five innings before sophomore Pat Kimutis hit a pinch-hit RBI triple to spark the sixth-inning outburst. Sophomore Nolan Pena smacked a two-run double, junior Corey Bugno singled home Pena and sophomore Aaron Janusey launched his team leading sixth homer, scoring Bugno, to close out the scoring in the frame.

The Red and Blue added two insurance runs in the seventh as Kimutis and freshman Anthony Manley each singled in runs.

The Dukes and Rams will meet again Saturday at 1:00 pm for game two of the series.
