Dukes Lose to Seton Hill, 15-7

Green Tree, Pa. - Duquesne's baseball team sufferd a 15-7 loss to Seton Hill Wednesday afternoon at Duquesne Field. Freshman designated hitter Mike Carroll paced the Red and Blue offense, going 4-for-5 while scoring one run.

Seton Hill (28-16), from nearby Greensburg, Pa., rushed out to a 5-0 lead after their first two at-bats. DU cut the deficit to 5-2 in the bottom of the second. The Griffins put up two in the top of third for a 7-2 edge.

Duquesne tied the score at 7-7 via five runs in the bottom of the third inning. Two Seton Hill pitchers tossed six scoreless innings while the visitors tacked on eight more runs for the 15-7 victory.

SHU's Brandon Whitfield was a perfect 4-for-4 with two walks, three RBI and four runs scored. Chad Fitzgerald (4-1), who held the Dukes at bay for four innings, picked up the victory. Duquesne sophomore Keith Meyer (0-3) was charged with the loss.

The Dukes (8-27, 3-9 Atlantic 10) return to conference play this weekend when they meet Richmond (14-23, 5-7 A-10) for a three-game series starting on Friday, April 21, 20076, at 3:00 p.m. at the Spiders' Pitt Field.
