Duquesne University's Nicole Sinclair (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) has been named a 2006 ESPN The Magazine First Team District 2 Women's Basketball Academic All-America honoree. She is one of just 10 (five on two teams) Division I student-athletes from Pennsylvania, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey and West Virginia to be selected. Sinclair will now be listed on the National Team ballot which will be released on Feb. 28.
Sinclair, a senior forward, boasts a 3.85 cumulative grade point average as a health management systems major. She was tabbed a 2004 District 2 second team pick a 2005 District 2 first team selection. Sinclair was the 2005 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Academic Student-Athlete of the Year and named to the A-10s All-Academic squad.
Sinclair leads Duquesne with a 7.7 rebounds per game average and adds 7.0 points per game. A three-year starter, she has 14 career double-doubles (points/rebounds) and currently ranks seventh all-time at Duquesne with 755 career rebounds.
Sinclair is the ninth Duquesne student-athlete to be named an ESPN the Magazine District 2 Academic All-American for the 2005-06 academic year.
To be eligible for the Academic All-America award, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore at their institution, be a starter or important reserve and have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.00 scale).
The Academic All-America women's basketball teams are the one of 12 that will be selected this academic year.
