Game Time

Duquesne upped its home opening record to 11-3 under 14th-year head coach Dan Durkin with a 58-57 edge over Saint Francis Nov. 14 at the Palumbo Center. The Dukes stand 21-11 overall in the first home game of the season, 16-16 in season-opening games.

The Panthers are facing their third opponent in five days after opening with a 71-58 win over visiting Cal (Pa.) Nov. 15 and took a 77-55 win over Mount St. Mary's Friday, both at the Petersen Events Center. The Panthers are receiving top 25 votes in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll - a first for the squad. Nov. 19 marks the earliest meeting date between the squads.

The Coaches

Dan Durkin is in his 14th season at the helm of the Duquesne women's basketball program and as a head coach. He posts a 170-197 career mark. Durkin is a 1975 graduate of Mount St. Mary's.

Agnus Berenato is in her fourth season at the helm of the Panthers and the 23rd as a collegiate head coach. She enters the MSM game 42-46 at Pitt and 325-310 overall. Berenato is a 1980 graduate of Mount St. Mary's.

The Series:

Today marks the 25th meeting between Duquesne and Pittsburgh. Prior to last year's 82-69 loss, Duquesne had won the past five meetings. The Panthers hold a 16-6 lead in the all-time series which began in 1976. Coach Durkin has the distinction of being the only Duquesne women's coach to have defeated the crosstown rival. DU is 4-4 when hosting the Panthers and 4-12 on the road. Last-year Pitt win was the first since a 62-57 overtime win Jan. 1, 2000 in Oakland.

Dukes Lately

Sunday marks the second of a three-game home series for the Red & Blue. Duquesne has had three straight home games to kick-off a season three other times - 1982-83, 1992-93 and 2002-03. Duquesne won its season opener versus Saint Francis (Pa.) 58-57 Tuesday night led by Loui Hall's double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Countdown to 1,000 Points for Hall: 19 needed

Senior Loui Hall is looking to become the 18th member of the 1,000-point club at Duquesne needing just 19 points. She entered the slate with 964 points and netted 17 vs. Niagara. She racked up 372 last year averaging a team-best 12.8 points per game. Hall, the 2007 team captain, entered her senior year with a three-year career scoring average of 11.2 ppg.
