DAYTON, Ohio - Norman Plummer scored 18 points to lead Dayton to an 85-63 win over Duquesne at UD Arena. The win - Dayton's first in Atlantic 10 play - snapped a seven-game Flyers losing streak, while Duquesne saw its losing streak reach eight.
Monty Scott and Brian Roberts added 11 points each for the Flyers who moved to 9-10 overall and 1-4 in league play. Bryant McAllister led the Dukes with a game-high 19 points. Keith Gayden added 17 for the Dukes who dropped to 0-5 in the Atlantic 10 and 2-14 overall.
Duquesne jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead on 3-pointers by Chauncey Duke and Bryant McAllister, but the advantage was short-lived as Dayton took the lead for good at 11-10 on a Desmond Adedji free throw at the 13:27 mark. The Flyers outscored the Dukes 30-17 the rest of the way to take a 41-27 lead at the half.
Duquesne briefly cut the lead to 13 on a Duke 3-pointer with 10:11 to go before Dayton answered with five-straight points to take a 64-46 lead on a Charles Little dunk at the 8:32 mark. The Flyers took a 20-point lead with four and one-half minutes left and maintained that margin until the final horn.
Dayton outshot Duquesne 45.9 percent to 39. 6 percent. The Flyers, who turned it over just six times, turned 14 DU turnovers into 21 points. Dayton, which went 9-of-21 from the 3-point arc, also hurt Duquesne inside, outscoring the Dukes 32-20 in the paint.
