The Coaches: Dan Durkin is in his 13th season at the helm of the Duquesne women's basketball program and as a head coach. He posts a 161-186 career mark. Durkin is a 1975 graduate of Mount St. Mary's. Durkin, a Philly native, attended Bishop McDevitt high school in Wyncote, PA. Cindy Griffin is in her fifth season at the Saint Joseph's helm and the eighth as a head coach. A 1991 graduate of Saint Joseph's, she is 80-56 in the five seasons coaching her alma mater and is 178-89 as a head coach.

The Series: This marks the 36th meeting between Duquesne and Saint Joseph's with the Hawks holding a 31-4 edge. The Dukes are 4-10 when hosting SJU; are 0-17 in Philadelphia and 0-4 vs. the Hawks in the A-10 Tournament. The Dukes suffered a 68-79 loss to the Hawks at the Palumbo last year. Duquesne was last victorious on Feb. 9, 2003 taking a 68-64 edge at the Palumbo Center.

Noting the Dukes: Duquesne closed out the 2005 year splitting a pair of road contests to conclude the non-conference portion of the season ... DU lost at Western Kentucky (51-70) and defeated Ohio (82-79) in overtime ... the Dukes stand 5-6 overall ... the win at Ohio was the first road win of the season at a non-neutral site and was the first OT game since 2/23/03 vs Xavier ... Aiga Bautre and Loui Hall continue to lead the Dukes' attack with 15.4 and 13.4 points per game respectively ... Nicole Sinclair controls the boards averaging 8.6 rebounds while Carmen Bruce posts a team-best 3.0 assist average ... Duquesne has hit at least one three point goal in the past 133 games ... in the latest NCAA rankings (Dec. 19), Bautre is eighth in 3-pt FG pct. (.532) and 16th in 3-pt FG made per game (3.1) ... as a team, DU is 11th in 3-pt FG Pct. (.420) and 16th in 3-pt FG made per game (7.3) ... turnovers have been costly for the Dukes who are averaging 19.1 per game ... A Look at Saint Joseph's: The Hawks stand 8-3 overall after falling 48-49 to Delaware at their own Hawk Classic ... Saint Joseph's started the season 7-0, but they have lost three of their last four contests ... three Hawks are hitting double figures led by Ayahan Cornish with 12.4 ppg ... Hillary Klimowicz (10.7) and Faith Schutte (10.2) round out the threesome ... Klimowicz owns a team-best 7.5 rpg average ... the Hawks stand 21st in the country in FG pct. defense (.345), 26th in scoring defense (54.4) and 43rd free throw pct. (.736) ... they are ranked in the top 100 in scoring margin, rebound margin and blocks ...
