Dayton Takes Dukes, 14-2, In Getaway Game

Dayton, Ohio - The Dayton Flyers took the weekend series over the visiting Dukes via a 14-2 victory Sunday afternoon at UD's Time Warner Cable Stadium. The result evened Duquesne's league mark to 9-9.

UD (26-19, 11-7) put up five runs in the first and the fourth to give the hosts an insurmountable 10-2 lead. Two Dayton pitchers held the Dukes to seven hits and two runs while DU's defense gave the Flyers five extra chances via errors.

Junior Mike Duganich scored the Dukes' first run in the third on a ground-out fielder's choice. A bases-loaded walk to sophomore Alex Sharick forced in junior Steve Maiolo in the fourth. Reshirt freshman Jeremy Gerger picked up his third loss in five decisions.

Duquesne (14-29, 9-9) returns to action on Tuesday, May 10th when they face Buffalo (15-25-1) at 3:00 p.m. at the Bills' Amherst Audubon Field in New York.
