Duquesne University freshman outfielder Bill Torre (South Park, PA/South Park) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Rookie of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday.

Torre improved his batting average to a team-best .429 after going 10-13 in a three-game series at Charlotte this weekend. Torre went 4-4 with his first collegiate homer in Friday's 6-4, 11-inning loss to the 49ers. Saturday he went 3-4 in an 18-7 loss and on Sunday he was 3-5 with a sacrifice fly in a 13-9 victory. On the week, Torre hit .769 with three runs scored and four RBI and had a 1.077 slugging percentage.

Duquesne's (3-6) game at Pitt on Wednesday has been cancelled due to poor field conditions. The Red and Blue are tentatively scheduled to host A-10 foe La Salle this weekend.
