The Duquesne women's basketball team returns to the Palumbo Center Thursday, Jan. 27th as it hosts Richmond in a 7:05 pm Atlantic 10 Tip. The Red & Blue will look to avenge their 44-62 loss in Virginia earlier this year.

The Series

Today marks the eighth meeting between Duquesne and Richmond with the Spiders holding a 6-1 lead over the Dukes. Duquesne is 0-4 on the road in a series which began during the 2002 season when Richmond joined the Atlantic 10. The lone Duquesne victory was an 89-78 decision on Feb. 14, 2002 at the Palumbo.

Dukes Lately

Duquesne stands 7-10 overall, 2-4 in the Atlantic 10 after splitting a pair of A-10 contests this past "weekend" ... The Dukes won 63-53 at UMass and fell 59-71 at Rhode Island this past Tuesday ... The game with the Rams was postponed two days due to severe weather in the New England area ... Aiga Bautre leads three Dukes in double-digit scoring with 16.2 ppg ... Loui Hall averages 13.7 while Nicole Sinclair adds 10.1 ppg ... Sinclair leads the group in rebounding with 8.9 boards per game ... the Dukes are averaging 76.4 ppg and 42.1 rpg at home while shooting .444 (178-401) from the field, .369 (38-103) from behind the arc and .750 (141-188) from the free throw line ... Duquesne has lost five of its last seven match-ups.

Richmond Lately

The Spiders jumped into the Top 25 last week with a 14-1 record, but saw the stint short-lived after suffering back-to-back losses for the first time this season taking falls at GW and vs. Temple ... Richmond is 14-3 overall, 5-2 in league play and have a 7-2 mark when playing on the road ... Three players average double figures in scoring led by Kate Flavin (17.5); Saona Chapman (12.0) and Christina Campion (10.4) ... Flavin leads the squad with 8.4 rpg and ranks 22nd in the nation in FG pct. (.565) and 49th in scoring (17.5) ... As a team, the Spiders are 21st in W-L pct. (.824); 22nd in FG pct. (.454); 34th in 3-pt FG pct. (.359) and 42nd in scoring margin (+11.1).

The Coaches

Dan Durkin is in his 12th season at the helm of the Duquesne women's basketball program and as a head coach. He posts a 153-172 career mark. Durkin is a 1975 graduate of Mount St. Mary's. Joanne Boyle is in her third year with the Spiders and as a head coach. She owns a 58-24 record and is a 1985 graduate of Duke.
