Dukes Lose At Akron, 11-3

Akron, Ohio - Duquesne's baseball team dropped a non-conference game Tuesday evening to Akron, 11-3, at Canal Park. Mike Grecco and Steve Maiolo each went 2-for-4. Mike Korzeniewski (2-3), who pitched 2 2/3 innings, was charged with the loss.

The Dukes (15-22) grabbed the lead in the top of the first on Pete Maropis' single that scored Grecco. Akron rallied in the third, scoring five runs and forcing a DU pitching change. Duquesne came back with two runs in the sixth, getting one run when Maiolo scored on a wild pitch followed by Jonathan Kelly's tally via a passed ball. Akron (23-17) scored once in the seventh and had their second five-run rally in the eighth.

The Dukes host Cleveland State in another non-conference game tomorrow, Wed. May, 5th, at 3:00 p.m.
