About the Dukes
Duquesne is riding a four-game winning streak and improved to 4-1 in league play with it's win over St. Bonaventure this past Friday. DU is 8-7 overall. Candace Futrell leads DU and the Atlantic 10 with 21.6 ppg and she has averaged 31.0 ppg the past two outings. Nicole Sinclair owns a team-best 7-8 rpg while Shiri Sharon paces the offense with 5.13 apg. The Dukes are 3-4 when playing on the road this year.
The Series
Richmond holds a 3-1 lead in the all-time series with Duquesne. Richmond took a 66-63 edge at the Palumbo Center last year and an 81-66 decision in Virginia. The Dukes' lone win was an 89-78 margin in Pittsburgh on Feb. 14, 2002.
About the Spiders
Richmond suffered its first Atlantic 10 loss with a 60-86 loss at George Washington Friday night. The Spiders have been receiving votes in the Top 25 polls and have four players averaging double-figure scoring. Kate Flavin leads the way with 18.5 ppg and adds a team-best 9.3 rpg. Richmond is 6-0 at home this season, which includes a 2-0 mark in Conference play - Rhode Island and La Salle. The Spiders advanced to the 2003 WNIT with their 21-11 record.
The Coaches
Dan Durkin Durkin is in his 11th year at Duquesne and as a head coach. He is 8-7 this season and 138-156 overall over his tenure. Joanne Boyle is in her second year at the helm of the Spiders and as a head coach. She is 12-4 this season and is 33-15 overall.

The Dukes travel back to The 'Burg to host Cornell in the final nonconference match-up of the season. The tip-off is slated for 7:05 pm Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Palumbo Center.
The Dukes' Last Game
The Dukes women's basketball team won its fourth-straight to improve to 4-1 in the Atlantic 10 with a 74-60 victory over visiting St. Bonaventure (4-11, 0-4) Friday night at the Palumbo Center. Duquesne moves to 8-7 overall. Candace Futrell led all scorers with 26 points and tied the game and team lead with 10 rebounds to pace the Dukes. Nicole Sinclair added 12 points and 10 boards while Shiri Sharon and Aiga Bautre added 13 points each. Sharon tied the game lead with six assists. Stef Collins led the Bonnies with 18 points while Audrey Latendresse added 16 markers. Duquesne opened the game strong hitting 16-striaght points and taking a 21-2 lead at the 11:10 mark. The Dukes hit five three-point goals over the span and held the Bonnies to 1-11 shooting from the field. St. Bonaventure hit a 9-0 run as the Dukes suffered a 4:07 scoring drought and got within a 17-26 reach at 5:06. Duquesne regrouped and used a 12-0 run to extend its lead to a 38-17 cushion and held a 43-19 lead at the half via a 17-2 run to end the frame. The Dukes held at least a 20-point lead until a 15-3 SBU spree midway through the second half brought the Bonnies within a 50-62 reach at 7:10. During that run, the Dukes saw 4:17 of scoreless play. Sharon snapped the drought with a trey at 5:56 to up the Dukes' lead to 65-50. St. Bonaventure extended that run to 23-6 over a total of 9:08 to get within a 56-65 edge with 3:12 on the clock, but the Red & Blue closed out the game outscoring the Bonnies 9-2 for the 74-60 final. The Dukes shot .429 (25-56) for the game to the Bonnies' .356 (21-59) and held a 39-34 rebounding edge.

The Last Time They Met the Spiders
Duquesne dropped an 81-66 decision at Richmond Feb. 13, 2003. Candace Futrell led four Dukes in double figure scoring with 15 points followed by Shiri Sharon with 13, Beth Friday with 12 and Aiga Bautre with 11. Sharon led the game with nine assists while Friday led the Dukes with seven rebounds. Kate Flavin paced Richmond and the game with 20 points and 16 rebounds. Richmond took an early 10-2 edge in the first half before a 9-3 Duquesne drive cut the margin to a 16-17 reach at the 11:00 mark. Richmond came on strong and executed a 20-3 run for a 34-19 advantage at 3:03. Erin Wehrle's goal at 2:43 snapped a six-minute scoring drought for the Dukes, but the closest they would come to a lead would be 28-41 at 1:20. Richmond held a 43-28 lead at the break. The Spiders held a 52-35 advantage with 16:39 to go in the second frame before Aiga Bautre and Sharon concluded a 19-5 Duquesne drive with back-to-back three-point goals to put the game within a 54-57 reach at 10:19. But Richmond hit six unanswered points for a 63- 54 edge at 6:55 and the Dukes went scoreless for over five minutes before Futrell's three-point basket put the game at a 63-57 Richmond advantage. Richmond would hit 17 of 19 free throws and two field goals afterward. Friday hit two field goals and Jade Timol hit a basket at :24 before the 81-66 final. Richmond held a 51-35 advantage on the boards and shot .443 (27-61) to the Dukes' .371 (26-70) from the field.
The Last Time DU was 4-1
The last time Duquesne posted a 4-1 league mark to start the season was during the 1997-98 slate. That year, DU sprang to a 4-0 start and were 4-1 in its fifth game. The Dukes ended the campaign 10-6 in Atlantic 10 play. They were 19-9 overall. Last season, the Red & Blue were 2-3 at this time.

Back In Her Rhythm After suffering shooting slumps in three of her five games earlier this year, senior Candace Futrell has found her rhythm. Over the past four outings, Futrell has hit 39-95 shots for a .410 accuracy. She was 14-24 (.583) vs. Xavier. She has a .314 accuracy (72-229) in the 11 games prior. Futrell is averaging 27.0 points and is 16-18 (.889) from the free throw line in DU's last four games as well.
No Stop'n Futrell
All-America candidate Candace Futrell produced her fourth career game scoring 30 or more points with a 30-point effort vs. Siena Dec. 22. She notched her third the earlier this season pouring in a game-best 32 points in the Dukes' loss to Kentucky at the USF odwalla Classic over Thanksgiving. This past summer, she became the first Duquesne player to compete in the USA Basketball Team Trials when she was one of 60 D-I athletes invited to participate. The 5-10 guard did not make either of the 12- member rosters, but had the chance to compete with some of the top talent in the country. One of the top scoring threats in Duquesne history and the Atlantic 10, she entered her senior campaign with 1,047 career points, even after missing eight games last year with injuries. Futrell averaged 19.5 ppg as a junior and owns a team- and A-10 best 21.6 ppg average this year. Futrell moved into fifth on the Duquesne career list with 1,345 after the Xavier gam and needs just four to take over the #4 spot. The quick and agile guard could surpass Darcie Vincent as the #2 scorer with 1,538 points. She would need to net 167 markers.

Sharon Becomes Fourth to Hit 500 Assists
Senior Shiri Sharon posted a DU and Atlantic 10 best 6.6 apg average last year, which also stood 12th in the NCAA. She became the first player at Duquesne over the past nine-years to record 12 assists in a game when she did so at Xavier marking a career high and a league single-game best mark. This season, Sharon took over the top spot Jan. 9 with five assists vs. Dayton. Throughout her career, she's had four games with double-figure dishes. She had moved into fourth all-time at Duquesne in 2002-03, just her third season, with 505 and is on track to be the first Duquesne player to reach 600 career assists.Dayton. Sharon is currently third among A-10 leaders with a 5.13 assist per game average.
