Box Score
The baseball team won its third straight game with a dramatic 2-1 triumph over Pitt in the first collegiate game played at PNC Park.
In the bottom of the ninth with the score tied at 1-1, junior shortstop Dan Schwartzbauer doubled and senior third baseman John Rieg was intentionally walked to fill the empty bag. Freshman second baseman Steve Maiolo then hit a soft roller to first base on a 3-2 count and dove head first into first base, beating the pitcher to the bag. Schwartzbauer, who was running on the play, arrived safely at home for the winning tally.
Senior right-hander Chris Lewis pitched his first complete game of the season, allowing just five hits and walking none. Senior center fielder Chad Williams hit his second home run of the season over the left field wall in the seventh inning to tie the game.
