Duquesne University's head women's basketball coach Dan Durkin has announced the addition of Alyssa Borasky (Chesapeake, Va./Oscar F. Smith/Northeast (Neb.) CC to the 2003-04 roster. She is the third commitment for the Dukes.
Borasky, a 6-2 post, averaged 10.9 points this past season leading her Northeast Community College Hawks to a 19-11overall record and its second-straight Nebraska Community College Conference title. She was third on the team with 7.2 rebounds per game. Borasky averaged 8.2 points and 4.4 rebounds her freshman year as Northeast went 25-7 overall.
"We are very lucky to get a player of Alyssa's caliber at this late date," adds Coach Durkin. "We knew Alyssa in her high school days and from playing AAU ball for Boo Williams' team in the Hampton, Va. area. Alyssa will really help us in the post position because we graduated three players from that position last year. Having already played in the junior college ranks, she will bring experience to our young squad. She was a two-year starter at Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Neb. and her coach Matt Svehla says she is a 'real workhorse in the paint'. Alyssa is an excellent student and intends to study psychology."
Borasky was named to the 2002 and 2003 Region IX All-Tournament Team and twice as a Nebraska Community College Athletic Association All-Conference Honorable Mention.
Borasky joins Takneekia Baker and Loui Hall who have signed previously with the Dukes.
