Arlington, Virginia - Duquesne's baseball team dropped a doubleheader to conference foe George Washington Saturday afternoon at Barcroft Park in the Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC as the Colonials edged the Dukes 7-6 in the nightcap after taking the opener, 15-5. The Dukes are now 18-19, 9-5 in the Atlantic 10 while GW raised their season mark to 22-11, 3-5 A-10.

Senior Andy Gallina (Mt. Lebanon, PA / Central Catholic), the day's desginated hitter, was 2-5 on the afternoon with two walks, two runs scored and four RBI including a three-run homer.

In game one, the Dukes came back from a 5-0 deficit to tie the score at 5-5 in the top of the third capped by Gallina's game-tying, two-out three-run homer. The Colonials scored single runs in the fourth and fifth before blowing the game open with eight runs on eight hits in the sixth.

The Dukes again had to battle from behind in the nightcap after GW scored five runs in the bottom of the first. Duquesne responded with five runs of their own in the top of the third to cut the deficit to 6-5. Three of DU's five runs were unearned as the Colonials helped Duquesne's offense with three errors. The Dukes tied the game in the fifth when Gallina (again) drove in first baseman Jon Kelly, who had singled to lead off the inning. GW tallied the winning run in the bottom of the sixth on third baseman Geoff Milsom's homer.

The two teams will hit the field again on Sunday at noon in the final game of the Easter weekend series.

NOTE: Game one was George Washington's second annual Jackie Robinson Game.
