Pittsburgh, PA -- - Duquesne women's basketball senior forward Beth Friday (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) became the first women's basketball player in Duquesne history to record 1,000 career points and rebounds with her 11 boards at Dayton this afternoon. She actually hit the mark with her second rebound at the 15:13 mark in the first half. Friday entered the contest with 998 career rebounds and 1,200 points and is just the fourth Atlantic 10 player to hit the plateau. She ended the game with 10 points as well to put her career totals at 1,009 rebounds and 1210 points.
Friday, who has rewritten the Duquesne rebounding records, holds the Dukes' single-season mark with 298 from the 2001 slate and also the rebounding mark for each class. She led the Atlantic 10 as a freshman and sophomore in rebounding and currently has 143 on the season after 14 games.
In addition, Friday's 131 career blocks stands in a tie for third all-time on the Duquesne records book and is first among Atlantic 10 players this year. The DU career blocking mark is 177 set by Tanya Larrydale from 1984-87.
