Duquesne's women's soccer team was defeated 2-0 Friday evening by the Pittsburgh Panthers at the cross-town rival's Founders Field. The loss drops the Dukes to 0-3-0 on the season while the Panthers are now 2-1-0.
Pittsburgh grabbed the lead midway through the first half when Neita Asdedano sent a shot past Duquesne goalkeeper Kristin Scharphorn at the 21:12 mark. The Panthers' tallied their second goal in the opening minutes of the second half on Cara Kappler's first career goal at 49:23.
The Dukes return to action next weekend when they head to Olean, NY, for the St. Bonaventure Tournament where they will face St. Francis (PA) at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 13th and Manhattan at 12:00 noon on Sunday, September 15th.
