Duquesne Adds Support Staff

PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne University Department of Athletics announced today the hiring of Pat Miller as an assistant athletic trainer and John Kristian as an academic coordinator.

Miller, a 1996 graduate of Slippery Rock University, comes to Duquesne after serving three years as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Texas-Arlington. The Pittsburgh native graduated from Central Catholic High School before earning his bachelor's degree in athletic training from Slippery Rock. He added a master's degree in exercise science from Auburn University in 1998. The 28-year-old Miller will work with the volleyball and baseball teams, as well as assist coordinator of sports medicine services Melissa Ebig in the day-to-day operations of the athletic training program.

Kristian, a native of Campbell, Ohio, earned his undergraduate degree in education from Youngstown State University in 1997, before adding a master's in sports administration and facility management from Ohio University in 2001. His is currently working toward a master's degree in educational administration at Duquesne.

The 29-year-old Kristian will work with assistant athletic director for student services Phil Racicot in providing academic support for student-athletes in all 21 of Duquesne's varsity sports.
