Duquesne University Athletics

Jessica Johns has served as the Associate Athletics Director- Sports Medicine since May of 2026.

Johns serves as the Athletics Health Care Administrator (AHCA), Director of Mental Health Care Services/Counseling for the Athletics Department and is a Sport Program Administrator for the Rowing Team.

Johns joined the Duquesne University Sports Medicine Team in July of 2018 as an athletic trainer, served as the Associate Head Athletic Trainer from December 2018 to August 2022, Head Athletic Trainer from September 2022 to September 2024 and Director of Sports Medicine from October 2024 to April 2026 . She currently works with the volleyball (2018-present) and cheer (2023-present) programs but previously worked with the rowing program from 2018-2023. In addition to her work with athletics, Johns is an adjunct professor in the Duquesne University Rangos School of Health Sciences. 

Johns completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training at Duquesne University in 2011. She went on to serve as a graduate assistant at North Carolina State University, where she graduated with a Master's degree in Adult Education in 2013. Prior to Duquesne, Johns worked at Saint Francis University (SFU) in Loretto, Pa., working primarily with the men's soccer and men's volleyball programs. Johns also helped establish the SFU Mental Health Policy.

Johns serves on several committees with the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers' Society and Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association. She is certified by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer and is licensed to practice as an athletic trainer in the state of Pennsylvania by the State Board of Medicine.
