Brianna Murgi joined the Duquesne University women's soccer staff as an assistant coach in February of 2024.
Murgi arrives on the Bluff after a two-year tenure as an assistant coach at Robert Morris University. Murgi also served as interim head coach this offseason and in October she was named to the 2023-24 United Soccer Coaches Class of 30 Under 30 Program.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Murgi helped lead the Colonials to one of the most successful seasons in program history last year with a program-record 12 wins and their first-ever Horizon League playoff appearance. Murgi recruited an impressive group of freshmen into the program both seasons at RMU, with Horizion League All-Freshmen Team selections each year.
Prior to her stint at Robert Morris, Murgi coached two seasons at Westminster. In her two seasons in New Wilmington, Pa., the Titans posted an overall record of 22-5-2 (.793). She assisted in recruiting 17 student-athletes to the program, including forward Brooke Horvath, who was named the 2021 PAC Newcomer of the Year. Westminster claimed the 2021 PAC regular-season championship with a perfect 9-0 mark and earned a bid to the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament.
Murgi was a four-year starter at Wheeling Jesuit University from 2016-19 and started all but three games during her career with the Cardinals. She logged over 5,600 minutes on the backline and was named captain during her junior season in 2018. Murgi earned a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science with a minor in psychology from Wheeling Jesuit in 2020, and in 2022 she earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Westminster.
Murgi also owns extensive club and camp coaching experience, having served as the 2003/2004 Girls Head Coach for Century Steel Soccer since 2020 as well as the 2006 Girls Assistant Coach. She has also served as assistant coach for the Century United Women's Premier Soccer League Team since January of 2021. During her prep career, Murgi won a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Class AAA state championship in 2015 with Upper St. Clair after finishing as a Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) finalist and earning all-section honors.
