Aly Zombek '12 joined the Duquesne rowing coaching staff in Jan. 2019. Zombek returns to The Bluff after five seasons of coaching collegiate rowing with the Carnegie Mellon’s Rowing Club.
With the Tartans, she grew the team to be competitive at Head of the Charles, Head of the Schuylkill, ACRA Henley’s as well as the Knecht Cup. She remains on the Safety Committee as the collegiate representative for the Three Rivers Rowing Association.
A native of Orlando, Fla. Zombek was a varsity athlete for the Edgewater rowing, swimming and water polo teams before continuing her rowing career at Duquesne beginning in 2008.
She stroked the Novice 4 her freshman year in addition to stroking the second V8 that earned a gold at the 2011 Metro Cup and captained the team during her junior and senior campaigns.
Zombek was an active member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and the Athletics Representative for the Student Life Advisory Committee. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Media Arts in 2012.
She now resides in Pittsburgh, with her husband, Steve, and daughter Sophie.
