Kim Lewis is in his second season at Duquesne and fourth season as an assistant coach under Ron Everhart.
Lewis, who enjoyed a standout playing career at Tulane while Everhart was there as an assistant coach, joined Everhart's staff prior to the 2004-05 season at Northeastern.
The 35-year-old Angie, La. native, who worked for two years at Northeastern, also served as an assistant at both McNeese State (2002-03) and Xavier (La.) (2001-02).
Lewis began his association with Everhart as a player at Tulane University from 1991-95. Everhart - who was an assistant coach under Perry Clark for the Green Wave from 1988-89 through 1993-94 - recruited Lewis to the New Orleans school in the early 1990s. Lewis and Everhart were part of an NCAA Tournament team in 1991-92 and an NIT team in 1993-94. Lewis made a return NCAA appearance as a senior in 1994-95 after Everhart took the head coaching position at McNeese State.
Lewis played a major role in resurrecting a Tulane program that had disbanded from 1985-86 through 1988-89. He made his mark quickly as the Metro Conference Freshman of the Year in 1990-91, and followed that by being named all-conference as the Green Wave reached a ranking of No. 14 in the AP poll and advanced to the second round of the 1991-92 NCAA Tournament Southeast Regional. Lewis helped Tulane to 18 wins and an NIT appearance in 1993-94 and led the Green Wave to a return trip to the NCAAs as a senior in 1994-95 with a 23-10 record.
Lewis, who ranks as Tulane's 11th all-time leading scorer, still holds school career records for steals and games played and also ranks on various individual and career lists for 3-pointers made, attempted and percentage as well as free throws made and attempted.
Lewis, who was named Tulane's T-Club Male Athlete of the Year in 1994-95, completed his bachelor's degree in communications in 1994.
Lewis got his coaching start at Tulane where he worked as an assistant from 1996-98.
From 1998-01, Lewis played in the Icelandic Professional Basketball League. While in Iceland, he helped lead his team to a championship, earning MVP and best all-around player honors in the process. His first season in Iceland, 1998-99, he doubled as his team's head coach.
Lewis returned to coaching in 2001 when he accepted an assistant's position at Xavier University (La.), an NAIA school located in New Orleans. After one season at Xavier, he moved on to McNeese State, where he was a recruiter under Tic Price for one year. It was following the 2003-04 season that Lewis was reunited with Everhart at Northeastern.
Lewis has a daughter, Jasmine.
