Sixth Season on Coach Dambrot's Staff
Eric Harper rejoined Keith Dambrot’s staff in June, after spending the 2017-18 season as an assistant video coordinator for the NBA Milwaukee Bucks.
While in Milwaukee, Harper assisted in the breakdown and analysis of practice and opponent film for both the coaching staff and players. He also aided in the creation of opponent scouting reports and assisted with practice and one-on-one workouts. Players he worked with included all-star Giannis Antetokounmpo, 2016-17 Rookie of the Year Malcolm Brogdon, USA Olympian Khris Middleton, and former No. 2 overall draft pick Jabari Parker.
Prior to his stint in Milwaukee, Harper spent three seasons on Dambrot’s Akron staff as the team’s head student manager from 2012-15, serving as the program’s first undergraduate video coordinator from 2013-15. Upon graduation in May of 2015, Harper was named operations assistant, a position he held for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
He accompanied Dambrot’s staff to Pittsburgh before accepting the position with the Bucks in the fall of 2017.
Harper’s responsibilities at Akron included cutting and organizing film databases, creating and maintaining recruiting databases, and assisting with monitoring the programs’ social media. In addition, he assisted with the creation of opponent scouting reports and team travel.
This will be Harper’s sixth season as part of Dambrot’s staff, and fourth as video coordinator.
As an undergraduate, Harper also served as head coach of Trumbull County Basketball Academy’s 9th and 10th grade girls AAU basketball team (2012 & 2013). He planned and scheduled all practices, travel, and tournaments while scouting opponents.
Harper, who earned his bachelor’s degree from Akron in sports management, completed his master’s degree in sports science and coaching in May of 2017.
He is a 2011 graduate of McDonald High School in McDonald, Ohio, where he played basketball and football.
