Biography

Connor Dixon, who completed his playing career by earning first team All-Northeast Conference honors at receiver last season, is in his first year as Duquesne[apos]s tight ends coach. The South Park, Pa. native was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers in April of 2012 and participated in rookie camp before suffering an injury that led to his release in early July. Dixon, who gained a rare sixth year of eligibility the day before the 2011 opener, tied the DU single-season record with 16 touchdown receptions in 2011. Dixon attended Michigan State as a quarterback before to transferring to Duquesne prior to the 2008 season. He started at QB for the Dukes in 2008 before shoulder injuries forced him to move to receiver. He finished last season with 40 receptions for 792 yards and a school record tying 16 touchdowns. Dixon, who completed his career with a unique stat line that included 26 touchdown passes thrown and 23 touchdown passes caught in his four seasons at Duquesne, completed his undergraduate degree in finance in December of 2010. He competed in 2011 while taking classes in DU[apos]s sports leadership graduate program.
