Welcome to the Duquesne Athletic Fund

WELCOME TO THE DUQUESNE ATHLETIC FUND
Welcome to the Duquesne Athletic Fund (DAF) page and thank you for visiting. The DAF is the official fundraising arm for the Duquesne Athletics. DAF funds support over 400 student-athletes who compete on the playing courts and fields and represent Duquesne University on a national stage. A gift to the DAF will help to recruit, retain, train and support our outstanding student-athletes as they pursue a world-class education and playing experience at DU.

As a thank you to our members, the athletics department offers exclusive benefits to DAF members to show our recognition for their contributions to Duquesne athletics. DAF members are afforded a variety of benefits which are based on giving level. Every membership makes a difference in the life of a Duke.

You can join the Duquesne Athletic Fund and start receiving benefits at the White level for just $100.

DAF benefits include:

  • DAF membership pin and decal
  • Tax-deductibility
  • Invitations to DAF special events (golf outing, summer cookouts, tip-off luncheon, etc.)
  • Exclusive hospitality and parking options
  • DU coaches apparel
  • And much more

Please take a few moments to review the DAF website and brochure and consider making a gift to the Duquesne Athletic Fund to support our outstanding student-athletes. Join "the team behind the team" and help us build upon our strong tradition!

ABOUT THE DUQUESNE ATHLETIC FUND
The Duquesne Athletic Fund is the charitable giving arm of Duquesne University Athletics. It operates under guidelines prescribed by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Atlantic 10 Conference and the Northeast Conference (football associate membership).

Individuals and organizations sharing a commitment to the success of Duquesne Athletics all contribute to the Fund. The Duquesne Athletic Fund supports the operational costs of our 16 varsity sports programs and the nearly 400 men and women participating as student-athletes.

The University has made unprecedented commitments to Athletics in recent years, increasing funding for scholarships and making extensive facilities improvements at Rooney Field and the Palumbo Center. Duquesne Athletic Fund members have magnified these efforts by establishing new endowed scholarships and supporting locker room renovations for football, men's and women's basketball and volleyball. Significant giving opportunities remain in these areas.

These types of expenditures are most visible--like the star players on each team. But any competitive squad is only as good as its reserves--the less-heralded players who still play key roles and push all of their teammates to perform even better.

Similarly, donors at every level contribute to the impact of the Duquesne Athletic Fund. Operational budgets, while growing, remain limited. Yet they have a direct effect on every student-athlete. Travel, for example, is a major expense. Last year, Duquesne teams played in 74 cities in 23 states and Canada. We recruit nationally and internationally, with more than 25 states and seven countries represented on our varsity rosters. This requires coaches to scout and meet with student-athletes everywhere and to bring prospects to campus for official visits.

Robust academic support also separates Duquesne from its peers and rivals. Student-athletes benefit from specialized academic advisement, individual and group tutoring, mandatory study halls, and loaned laptop computers for use during team travel. All of these resources are supported in large part by the Athletic Fund, helping Duquesne athletes to excel in their studies.
