Duquesne Names Bret Geishauser New Strength And Conditioning Coach

July 31, 2002

Duquesne University Director of Athletics Brian Colleary announced today that Bret Geishauser has been named strength and conditioning coach. Geishauser replaces Scott Austin who accepted a similar position at Jacksonville State in early July. He will oversee strength and conditioning for DU's 21 varsity sports.

"We're excited to have Brett on our staff," said Colleary. "As a former student-athlete, college strength coach and assistant at the professional level he has a solid understanding of what it takes to prepare student-athletes to compete at a high level."

Geishauser, a four-year starter at cornerback for Slippery Rock University (1994-97), served as head strength and conditioning coach at SRU from August of 1998 through May of 2000. He also worked as a strength and conditioning intern for the Buffalo Bills in the summer of 1998 before joining the Bills' strength staff as an assistant under Rusty Jones through December of 2000. Following his stint with the Bills, Geishauser worked as operations manager/exercise specialist at Pittsburgh's Duquesne Club. He accepted the assistant athletic director/fitness manager position at the Rivers Club in May. Geishauser, who has also served as a strength and conditioning consultant at the Island Sports Center, completed his undergraduate degree in physical education at Slippery Rock in 1998. He is currently working toward completing a master's degree in sport management from SRU.

Geishauser was certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength & Conditioning Association in 1998. He is also certified as a Club Coach by the USA Weightlifting Club.
