Duquesne Names Student-Athletes of the Year

Kristina Rohall (lacrosse), Shea McMillan (track & field) and Jason Kutney (soccer) were named 2003-04 Duquesne University Student-Athletes of the Year as determined by a vote of a panel of University administrators. Rohall and McMillan were co-winners on the women's side, while Kutney was the men's athletics honoree. All three were also named Atlantic 10 Student-Athletes of the Year for their respective sports.

Rohall, a two-time A-10 lacrosse Student-Athlete of the Year who helped the Dukes to a share of their first-ever regular season title this season, boasts a 3.95 GPA as a journalism major.

McMillan, the school record holder in the long & triple jumps and 100-meter dash, has a 3.77 GPA in finance.

Kutney, who was named a First Team CoSida Academic All-American in the fall, has a 3.95 GPA in investment management. He helped the Dukes to the 2003-04 Atlantic 10 regular-season co-Championship and is currently playing professionally for the A-League Charleston Battery.

Other DU student-athletes nominated for the award included: Lauren Bracco (soccer), Carrie Hucko (cross country), Sarah Morrow (volleyball), Karen Predmore (rowing), Mike Hilliard (football), Danny Schwartzbauer (baseball) and Jimmy Tricco (basketball).

To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must meet the following criteria: senior status in both academics and athletics; cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher and outstanding contributions and leadership in their sport as well as commitment to community/university service

The following Dukes were named Atlantic 10 Student-Athletes of the Year in 2003-04:

Colleen McCrosky - rowing
Shea McMillan - indoor and outdoor track & field
Kristina Rohall - lacrosse
Jimmy Tricco - basketball
