Senior basketball player Beth Friday (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and senior soccer goalkeeper Terry McNelis (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) were named Duquesne University's Female and Male Student-Athletes of the Year at the DU Senior Awards Banquet last night.

Friday, who had her jersey retired prior to her final home game on Feb. 27, finished her career with 1,410 points and a school record 1,160 rebounds. A two-time first team All-Atlantic 10 pick on the court, Friday was also named third team Verizon Academic All-America and the A-10 women's basketball Student-Athlete of the Year this past season.

Terry McNelis

McNelis, a four-year starter, helped the Dukes to second-place Atlantic 10 finishes in 1999 (13-6-2) and 2002 (13-3-5). A three-time Verizon Academic All-America and four-time member of the A-10 All-Academic Team, McNelis finished his career with a 1.13 goals against average and 29.5 shutouts.
