Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University men's soccer team continued a three-game road trip Saturday by returning to Atlantic 10 play, dropping a 1-0 decision to Saint Louis at Hermann Stadium. The Dukes dipped to 4-2-2 (.625) overall during the 2026 season, including 1-1-0 (.500) in conference play.
POINTS OF EMPHASIS
The only strike in the contest came at 12:08. The Billikens, awarded seven corner kicks in the first half, were able to grab the game's lone goal off a set piece. Xavi O'Neill lifted a ball into the box, and Luke Adams was able to score on a header to give Saint Louis (3-3-2 | 1-0-1 Atlantic 10) the early lead. The Billikens owned a 7-2 advantage in shots in the opening 45 minutes and would own a 9-3 edge overall in the contest. Both teams finished with a pair of shots on goal.
DEFENSIVELY SPEAKING
Both teams kept the defensive pressure intact in a contest that featured four yellow cards, including four for SLU. The Dukes were on the hunt for the equalizer late in the first half, but a shot from redshirt freshman
Steel Bayer was stopped by Saint Louis goalkeeper Lucas McPartlin. Duquesne also had another opportunity to knot the score in the second half, but McPartlin stuffed a shot in the middle from redshirt senior
Jaxon Ervin.
NOTES
Each of the last four games for Duquesne has been decided by one goal, with the Dukes 2-2 (.500) in those efforts … A total of 3,246 fans were in attendance as the contest against the Dukes served as Homecoming for Saint Louis … Ervin was one of three players to log a full 90 minutes, joining senior
