Azusa, Calif. – Duquesne first year
Lindsay Kivlan won the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) Individual Event national title in Open Tumbling, highlighting the Dukes' first-ever appearance in the national individual event finals on Sunday at the Felix Events Center on the campus of Azusa Pacific University.
Kivlan scored a 9.800 on her open pass to secure the title by 0.005 over the runner-up from Baylor. The freshman from Mars, Pa., becomes Duquesne's first individual national champion in any sport and delivers the first national championship by a women's program in school history.

Duquesne, the youngest team in the field competing in just its second season, also qualified finalists in Acro Five-Element, Quad Tumbling and Aerial Tumbling.

Caileigh Kertis scored a 9.475 to place fourth in the nation.
Clare Frantti,
Sienna Johnson,
Sarah Golie and
Lindsay Kivlan finished third with a score of 8.125 in quad pass.
Briella Unger tied for third nationally in the aerial pass with a 9.500.

Created in 2009, Acrobatics & Tumbling is the evolution of multiple gymnastics disciplines, incorporating the athletic elements of competitive cheerleading.
