Moon Township, Pa. – The Duquesne University lacrosse team suffered a 13–12 defeat at Robert Morris on Wednesday afternoon, as the Colonials converted a free-position opportunity with 0.6 seconds remaining.
The Dukes had a shot stopped by the Colonial goalkeeper at the 30-second mark, before Robert Morris drew a foul with just two seconds remaining to set up the game-winning opportunity.
Duquesne erased a six-goal deficit with an 8–0 scoring run that spanned from the 9:49 mark of the second quarter to 8:13 in the fourth, turning a 10–4 deficit into a 12–10 lead. The Colonials answered late, however, scoring the game's final three goals — including the last-second winner.
Sophomore
Megan Marco paced the Dukes' offense with a career-high four goals and one assist for a five-point performance. Marco scored her four goals on just five shots.
Gracin Emerson served five assists to push her season total to 16 through three games and also found the back of the net once.
Addison Scanlon,
Emma Raines and
Chloe Holmes each tallied two goals, while
Ali Evans added one.
First-year
Madison Welch controlled the draw circle with a game-high eight draw controls, helping Duquesne to a 13–12 edge in draws.
Scanlon led the Dukes defensively with four caused turnovers and three ground balls. Goalie
Ella Roach made seven saves and added three ground balls, while
Faith Conaty forced three turnovers and scooped three ground balls.
Duquesne capitalized on both of its free-position attempts (2-for-2), while RMU was sent to the arc eight times and converted three.

The Dukes continue a four-game road stretch next Wednesday (Feb. 25) at Mercyhurst. First draw in Erie is set for 1 p.m.
