Duquesne Extends Winning Streak to Four

Dukes also set school record with fourth consecutive Atlantic 10 road triumph

Olean, N.Y. – Forward Alex Williams buried a three-pointer from the corner in front of the bench with 1:06 to play as the Duquesne University men's basketball team stretched its winning streak to four Saturday with a 78-73 victory over St. Bonaventure at the Reilly Center. The Dukes, who improved to 5-1 in Atlantic 10 road games with the victory, pushed their overall record during the 2025-26 campaign to 15-10 (.600), including 7-5 (.583) in conference action. Duquesne has also set a program standard with its fourth consecutive Atlantic 10 road triumph.

POINTS OF EMPHASIS
Joseph Grahovac slid open on the wing and buried his only field goal of the game, a three-pointer, with 2:18 to play that pushed the Bonnies in front, 73-71, but SBU failed to score the rest of the contest as Duquesne closed on a 7-0 run to earn the win. Redshirt junior guard Brandon Hall hit the front end of a one-and-one opportunity to pull the Dukes to within 73-72, and after a stop on the defensive end, junior guard Jimmie Williams found Alex Williams open in the corner, who promptly stepped up and knocked down his second triple of the game to give Duquesne the lead for good. Another defensive stand followed, with Grahovac trying to score in the paint but was off the mark before Alex Williams grabbed the defensive board on the weak side. The Dukes ran a play and took air out of the clock before Jimmie Williams launched a deep three-pointer just before the shot clock expired, finding the bottom of the net to seal the triumph with 12.8 seconds to go.

BEND DON'T BREAK
Frank Mitchell scored the opening basket of the game for the Bonnies before a 10-0 run forced St. Bonaventure (14-11 | 3-9 Atlantic 10) to call timeout. The Dukes eventually grabbed their largest lead after senior guard Tarence Guinyard connected from beyond the arc at the 7:15 mark of the opening half and was fouled on the play. He converted the four-point play to give Duquesne a 37-19 cushion. St. Bonaventure was able to trim its deficit to 45-33 at halftime, with Guinyard (11) and Jimmie Williams (10) combining for 21 points in the opening 20 minutes of action. The lead remained in double digits, 51-41, early in the second half after a dunk from Hall with 15:32 to play. SBU would chip away, grabbing a 64-63 edge after a jumper from Mitchell with 6:10 to go. It set up a final stretch in which the lead changed hands six times before Alex Williams would give the Dukes the lead for good with his triple.

DEFENSIVELY SPEAKING
