Pittsburgh, Pa. – Duquesne University Athletics has announced a five-year partnership with
SteelPoint Capital that will feature the company's logo on Duquesne football jerseys and helmets.
"We're very fortunate to have
Casey Quinn and SteelPoint Capital partner with Duquesne Athletics," said Interim Director of Athletics
John Henderson. "As a Duquesne football alumnus, Casey understands firsthand the impact that support can have on our student-athletes. He has contributed to our program in so many ways, from sharing his professional experience and entrepreneurial insights to supporting financial literacy education. His continued commitment to Duquesne Athletics speaks volumes about his dedication to giving back to our university and its student-athletes."
SteelPoint Capital, founded by former Duquesne football player Casey Quinn, is an owner-operated private capital platform focused on asset-backed lending in Pittsburgh and investments in existing, mission-aligned operating companies.
"I played tight end for Duquesne, so seeing the SteelPoint name on a Dukes helmet and jersey is a full-circle moment for me and for our team, many of whom are Duquesne graduates themselves," reflected
Casey Quinn, Founder and CEO of SteelPoint Capital Holdings. "Duquesne gave me the foundation to build a career and a business right here in Pittsburgh. At SteelPoint, our mission is to build happiness, transform lives and strengthen our community, and this partnership is all three. It's our way of investing back into the program and the student-athletes who will become this city's next generation of leaders. We're proud to stand alongside Coach Schmitt and the Dukes."
Duquesne earned its first conference win of the 2026 season with a
14-7 victory at Stonehill last week, evening its NEC record at 1-1. The Dukes
host Wagner this Saturday, Oct. 24 for a noon kickoff at Rooney Field.
"We're grateful for Casey and SteelPoint Capital's continued support of our program," head coach
Jerry Schmitt noted. "When a former player and graduate invests back into Duquesne football, it speaks to the family atmosphere we've worked hard to build. We're proud to wear the SteelPoint logo because this partnership represents more than sponsorship. It reflects a shared commitment to developing our student-athletes on the field, in the classroom and in the community."
Now in its 99th season of intercollegiate football, Duquesne has recorded more than 470 all-time victories. The program's rich history includes bowl victories in the 1934 Festival of Palms Bowl and the 1937 Orange Bowl, along with a 1973 National Club Championship. Since joining the FCS ranks, the Dukes have captured 18 conference championships, including a record 39 consecutive conference victories during their MAAC run. Duquesne has won seven NEC championships since 2011 and made three FCS playoff appearances since 2015. The Dukes have posted 27 winning seasons in 33 years at the FCS level, including 10 in the last 11 seasons.
