Washington, D.C. – Junior middle blocker
Jordan Robertson of the Duquesne University volleyball team was named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week after her performance this past weekend, announced by the league office on Tuesday.
A native of Coral Springs, Fla., Robertson anchored the middle for the Dukes, averaging 1.71 blocks and 1.14 digs per set while adding 2.71 kills over two matches. She finished the weekend with 12 blocks, eight digs, 19 kills, and four service aces, earning a spot on the Duquesne/RMU Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Robertson opened the weekend with five total blocks, four assists and one solo, while adding seven kills and a career-high four service aces on a .385 hitting percentage in Duquesne's 3-0 sweep of Buffalo Friday night. She carried that momentum into Saturday's match against Saint Francis, recording seven more blocks (five assists, two solo) and posting her third double-digit kill outing of the season. Robertson closed the match with 12 kills, five digs, and an impressive .667 hitting percentage.
The junior has been a consistent force for the Dukes to open the season, ranking second in the Atlantic 10 with a .358 hitting percentage. She has hit .300 or better in six matches, including a current streak of three straight. On the defensive side, Robertson has tallied 48 total blocks, sixth-most in the conference, while her 1.20 blocks per set rank third.
Robertson earns the honor for the first time in her career, becoming just the eighth player in program history to receive it.
