PITTSBURGH — The No. 9-ranked Duquesne triathlon team hosts the third annual Duquesne Invitational this week. For the first time, the meet will span two days, beginning with an aquathlon on Friday followed by the triathlon on Saturday.

- National Ranking: Duquesne enters the meet ranked 9th in the CTCA Division I Preseason Poll. The Dukes placed ninth last season at the national championships in Division I.

- Last Time Out: Duquesne makes the shortest turnaround of its season with just five days between races, having last competed at Sunday's Lake Davidson Sprint Triathlon. Freshman Kadence Ribbink paced the Dukes in her collegiate debut, placing fourth overall in 58:02.34 behind team-best bike and run splits in the 750-meter swim, 12.7-mile bike, and 5K run event that featured 79 competitors. Rachel Lavagno led Duquesne in the swim on her way to a 23rd-place finish, while five Dukes finished inside the top 40, including freshmen Catherine Staley (31st, 1:02:18.15), Robyn Hunt (36th, 1:03:44.09), and Kate Potashnik (38th, 1:04:03.94).
- Up Next: The Dukes travel to Virginia next Sunday (Sept. 28) for the Robious Landing Triathlon.
