Schrom Named MVP; Jordan Selected to YSU Invitational All-Tournament Team

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Sophomore Emersen Schrom and freshman Karli Jordan were named to the YSU Invitational All-Tournament Team, with Schrom earning Most Valuable Player honors after leading the Duquesne volleyball team to a perfect 3-0 record over the weekend.

Schrom, a Pittsburgh, Pa. native, led the Dukes' offense with 6.56 points and 5.00 kills per set, while also averaging 1.22 service aces. Over the course of the weekend, she totaled 45 kills, six blocks, and 28 digs. She opened the invitational with 15 kills, nine digs, three blocks, and two aces in a 3-0 win over Canisius, before adding 13 kills, eight digs, three aces, and two blocks in another sweep against Youngstown State. Schrom closed out the weekend with her first double-double of the season, tying her career high with 17 kills and collecting 11 digs while hitting .342. She also paced the team with six service aces and added a block in the victory over Mercyhurst.

Jordan is off to an impressive start in her freshman campaign, recording two matches with double-figure kills. She averaged 3.56 points and 3.11 kills per set while hitting .312, finishing the weekend with 28 kills, 16 digs, four assists, and three blocks. In her first collegiate start, the Texas native posted her first career double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs on a .435 hitting percentage, adding three assists and two service aces in a sweep over Canisius. She followed with 11 kills, two digs, and a block in a straight-set win over Youngstown State before closing the invitational with seven kills, four digs, and two blocks in the victory against Mercyhurst.

UP NEXT
Duquesne returns to UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse for the first time this season to host the Chick-fil-A Robinson Classic on Friday, Sept. 5, and Saturday, Sept. 6. The Dukes open play against Loyola Maryland on Friday at 11 a.m. before facing FDU later that evening at 6 p.m. They will then travel to Robert Morris on Saturday to wrap up the invitational with a 3 p.m. matchup.
