WINGATE, N.C. — The No. 9 Duquesne triathlon team opened its third season Sunday at the Bulldog Supersprint Kickoff, hosted by Wingate University. The Dukes had four competitors and tied for third in the team standings.

Alexandria Meyers and Abby Kreber paced the Dukes in the B-wave finals. Meyers finished in 28 minutes, 6 seconds, with Kreber right behind at 28:31.

Freya Davis (29:33) and Ella Butterfield (33:13) rounded out the lineup in the prelims.

Duquesne tied Emmanuel for third with 28 points. Host Wingate won the event with 110 points, while Navy (75) placed second and Newberry (11) finished fifth.

The Dukes return to North Carolina on Sept. 14 for the Lake Davidson Sprint Triathlon hosted by Queens University of Charlotte. Duquesne will then host the third annual Duquesne Invitational on Sept. 19–20 at Brady's Run Park.
