Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University women's soccer team wrapped up a two-game road swing Thursday, dropping a 3-0 decision to West Virginia in Morgantown, W.Va., at Dick Dlesk Stadium. The Dukes, in suffering their first loss of the 2025 season, dipped to 3-1 (.750).
POINTS OF EMPHASIS
The Mountaineers, who have dropped a pair of games early this season to ranked opponents, struck first at 16:06. A nifty outlet pass from Alexis Ré led to Taylor White collecting the ball and racing down the far sideline. She lifted the ball to herself, and as junior goalkeeper
Ali Hughes came out to meet the ball, White chipped it over the head of Hughes and into the net for the first score of the contest. It marked the third consecutive game White scored a goal for the Mountaineers. The opening score was part of an all-around effort from White, who added assists on each of the next two goals for West Virginia (2-2-0).
THE BRACE
The Mountaineers grabbed a 2-0 edge at halftime courtesy of Maddie Levy, who took a pass from White in the box and scored at 23:55 to open up a two-goal advantage for WVU. Levy added the brace in the second half, as she dribbled around a pair of defenders and began a perfect give-and-go with White just inside the box that led to Levy finishing at 52:21 and pushing the advantage to 3-0 for West Virginia.
