Billikens Clip Dukes in Overtime

Five Dukes score in double figures at Saint Louis

St. Louis, Mo. – The Duquesne University men's basketball team concluded the 2024-25 regular season Saturday, falling in overtime to Saint Louis, 90-88, at Chaifetz Arena. The Dukes own an overall record of 13-18 (.419) and conclude the Atlantic 10 slate with a mark of 8-10 (.444).

POINTS OF EMPHASIS
Senior guard Tre Dinkins III hit a jumper with 41 seconds remaining in regulation to give Duquesne an 80-74 edge, but a pair of three-pointers from Isaiah Swope helped the Billikens tie the game for the sixth time. His first came with 34.1 seconds remaining, and after a tie up led to a jump ball, Saint Louis gained possession. Swope broke free and buried one from the corner with 27.3 seconds left to knot the score, 80-80. The Dukes called timeout with 23.1 ticks to go after getting over halfcourt, setting up one last attempt for Duquesne. A three-point attempt from Dinkins III, however, was off the mark, forcing overtime.

EXTRA TIME
Redshirt junior guard Maximus Edwards connected from beyond the arc on the wing right in front of the Duquesne bench to give the Dukes an 85-84 edge with 1:45 left in overtime, but on the ensuing possession for the Billikens, Swope answered, burying his third triple of the contest to push Saint Louis (18-13 | 11-7 Atlantic 10) in front for good, 87-85. An empty possession for Duquesne followed, with Robbie Avila sealing the win with 35.8 seconds to go with a three-pointer. Junior forward David Dixon would attempt a three-pointer from the top of the key but was off the mark, and after Gibson Jimerson, who scored a career-high 35 points, missed the front end of a one-on-one opportunity, junior guard Kareem Rozier hit a three-pointer as time expired to settle the final score.

💯
Rozier appeared in his 100th career game for Duquesne Saturday in the 2024-25 regular-season finale, finishing with 11 points and a pair of assists. He is the first member of the Dukes to play in 100 career contests on the Bluff since former forward Eric James saw action in 115 games from 2014 to 2018. James, a native of Westerville, Ohio, earned 24 starts during his career in averaging 4.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. Rozier is the program's active leader for consecutive games, which reached 89 Saturday against the Billikens, and owns 31 starts over the last three seasons. Rozier will enter the 2025 Atlantic 10 Championship next week with a career assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.74.
