NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — The No. 15 Duquesne University acrobatics & tumbling team suffered its first loss of the season Monday night in a nationally ranked showdown at No. 8 Iona, falling 252.975-245.095. The Dukes are now 3-1 in their inaugural season.

FULL RESULTS

Duquesne fell behind by nearly four points at the halfway mark (91.25-87.30) as the Gaels (2-1) won the compulsory (36.70-34.60), acro (26.00-25.75), and pyramid (28.55-26.95) events.

The Dukes picked up their lone first-half heat victory in the five-element acro heat (8.90-8.65) and recorded a season-high 8.20 in the six-element heat.

Duquesne outscored Iona in the open toss, 8.95-8.75, and DU's synchronized pyramid matched a season-high with a 9.35 out of 9.90. However, Iona extended its lead with a narrow win in the toss event and a 1.25-point advantage in the pyramid event.

The Gaels added to their edge with a 54.575-50.825 advantage in tumbling. Duquesne secured an event win in the team event with 81.82 points, but the deficit proved too much to overcome.
