Richmond, Va. – The Duquesne University men's basketball team had its losing streak extended to five Wednesday, falling to Richmond, 73-68, at the Robins Center. The Dukes dipped to 9-14 (.391) overall during the 2024-25 campaign, including 4-6 (.400) in the Atlantic 10.

Maximus Edwards converted the first four-point play of the 2024-25 season for the Dukes with 14:49 remaining, burying a three-pointer and connecting for the free throw after a foul by Ryan Soulis, helping Duquesne close to within 44-36. The Spiders responded, as Soulis atoned for his foul with a triple as the shot clock was winding down and Dusan Neskovic converted a second chance opportunity. Richmond eventually opened up a 51-38 lead with 12:21 to play after a dunk from Apostolos Roumoglou, matching its largest lead in the contest. Richmond, coming off a 90-49 loss at VCU (Feb. 1), shot a season-high 61 percent (25-for-41) from the field, including 8-for-12 (66.7%) from beyond the arc. Jason Roche paced the Spiders with 14 points while also grabbing seven rebounds. Edwards led the Dukes with 21 points, one off his season high, knocking down eight of his 10 attempts from the floor, including 4-for-6 from deep.

Eli Wilborn hit a free throw to give the Dukes an early 1-0 lead, as the second was called off due to a lane violation. The Spiders scored the next six points of the game to grab a 6-1 advantage and owned its first double-digit cushion, 17-6, with 10:33 to go in the first half after a layup from Soulis. Duquesne also trailed by double digits, 33-23, with just 1:29 to go prior to halftime before junior guard
Kareem Rozier connected from beyond the arc and senior forward
Jahsean Corbett went 1-for-2 at the line to help the Dukes trim their deficit to 33-27 at the break. UR shot 61.9 percent (13-for-21) from the field in the opening 20 minutes, including 50 percent (2-for-4) from beyond the arc, and got a balanced attack offensively, with Jonathan Beagle and B. Artis White each supplying six points.
