Petrochko Named A-10 Golfer of the Week

Sophomore collects first honor of 2025-26 season and second of career

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Sophomore Sasha Petrochko of the Duquesne University golf team was named the Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Week, her first of the 2025-26 season as well as the second of her career. It also marks her seventh weekly honor from the conference office in just over a year competing at the NCAA Division I level.

Petrochko was honored for her performance at the Red Flash Invitational last week in Westmont, Pa., at Sunnehanna Country Club. Over the course of 36 holes, Petrochko posted a 148, carding a 74 (+2) in each of the two rounds, to finish in a tie atop the leaderboard with Victoriah Kuranga of Towson.

Collecting par in each of her final two holes of the second round, including the 365-yard, par four at No. 3 and the 363-yard, par four at No. 4, Petrochko helped force a playoff for medalist honors with Kuranga, who registered a bogey on each of her final two holes. Kuranga would follow be earning the individual title on the third playoff hole.

The 148 (+4) for Petrochko at the Red Flash Invitational matched her 36-hole score at the event last season, which helped her collect her first medalist honor and earn Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week accolades. This year, Petrochko led the field at the Red Flash Invite in birdies (7), two ahead of seven other student-athletes, and tied for third among competitors with an average of 4.19 strokes on a par four.

In 12 career tournaments at the NCAA Division I level, Petrochko owns eight finishes in the top 10, including four in the top five. Her first career Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Week nod came last season, when she earned the top conference honor as well as A-10 Rookie of the Week for her performance at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational in Boardman, Ohio.

Duquesne, led by head coach Colleen Meyers, concluded its 2025 fall season by finishing fifth at the Lehigh Invitational. The Dukes will open their 2026 spring campaign in February with the Columbia Classic in Melbourne, Fla.
