Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University men's soccer team wrapped up a two-game road swing Saturday in the Bronx, N.Y., dropping a 1-0 decision to Fordham at Moglia Stadium at Jack Coffey Field. The Dukes slid to 6-4-2 (.583) overall in 2025, including 1-4 (.250) in the Atlantic 10.
POINTS OF EMPHASIS
Both teams tried to find a rhythm in the early going, but the Fordham defense kept Duquesne in check, not allowing a shot in the opening 45 minutes of play. It remained scoreless until just before halftime, when the Dukes were issued a yellow card, setting up a set piece for the Rams. Fordham went to its leading scorer, senior midfielder Daniel D'Ippolito, who on the free kick from 38 yards out curled the ball into the back of the left of the net and past redshirt senior goalkeeper
Diego Chavez at 40:12. It was the fifth goal of the year for D'Ippolito as well as his 24th career strike.
STAYING SMALL
The goal from D'Ippolito was more than enough for Fordham (7-2-3 | 4-0-2 Atlantic 10) goalkeeper Tristan Stephani, who entered Saturday's game ranked eighth in NCAA Division I in goals against average (0.50). He posted a pair of saves after the break as Duquesne pushed forward, outshooting the Rams in the final 45 minutes, 8-1. Despite Fordham owning a slight cushion in shots overall, 9-8, the Dukes had one more shot on target. The only shot on goal for the Rams proved to be the game winner from D'Ippolito.
