RICHMOND, Va. -- The Duquesne University lacrosse team suffered a 20-5 defeat at VCU on Saturday.
After a 2-2 tie in the opening six minutes, VCU rattled off nine goals in a row to take control of the contest. The Rams led 14-3 at the half and answered both Duquesne second-half goals with three of their own.
Mackenzie Leszczynski led the Dukes with two goals on three shots.
Jillian Caroselli,
Corinne Webb, and
Emma Raines all added one apiece to round out the scoring. Caroselli and
Emelie Curtis accounted for Duquesne's two assists on the afternoon.
Leszczynski, who has now scored in 11 straight games, and Webb are now tied for the team lead with 26 goals on the season.
Casey McBride had a career-high five caused turnovers to lead all players.
Megan LaBorne recorded a season-high eight saves and a career-best four ground balls in relief of starter
Rachel O'Toole, as the duo combined for 10 saves.

Duquesne hosts UMass next Saturday (Apr 6) at Rooney Field for its One Love Foundation Game. First draw is scheduled for noon.
