Perrantes Named NEC Offensive Player of the Week for Third Time This Season

Afful, Erby and Isabella all garner Prime Performer honors

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Duquesne senior quarterback Darius Perrantes was named the Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season and the seventh time in his career following a six-touchdown performance in last week's win over Wagner. Wide receivers Tedy Afful, John Erby, and Joey Isabella also earned Prime Performer honors in the league's weekly awards released Monday.

Perrantes was additionally recognized as an Honorable Mention for the Stats Perform FCS National Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season and received a "Helmet Sticker" on ESPN's College Football Final for his standout Week 12 showing.

The Los Angeles native tied a single-game program record and set a new Rooney Field record with six passing touchdowns in the final home game of his career Saturday. He completed 27 of 46 passes for 393 yards. It marked his seventh straight game with multiple passing touchdowns and his second 300-yard game this season.

Perrantes' six touchdown passes also tied for the most by an FCS quarterback in a game this season. He is the only FCS quarterback to record three games with five or more touchdown passes in 2024.

A 2023 Walter Payton Award finalist and member of the 2024 watch list, Perrantes extended his program record to seven career NEC Offensive Player of the Week honors. With three awards this season, he is one shy of A.J. Hines' single-season program record of four, set in 2018.

Perrantes ranks fifth in the FCS with 27 touchdown passes this season, including a league-best 22 in NEC play. He also is currently top five all-time at Duquesne in career passing touchdowns (71 - fourth), yards (6,525 - fifth), and completions (456 - fourth).

Duquesne, which averages 41.2 points per game in conference play, has had the NEC Offensive Player of the Week for four consecutive weeks and six of the 10 weeks played this season.

PRIME PERFORMERS
Tedy Afful became the ninth receiver in Duquesne history to record a 200-yard game, finishing with a career-high 208 yards and 10 catches against Wagner. The Bloomfield, N.J., native accounted for six of the Dukes' seven third-down conversions in the win and scored the final touchdown of the game on a 13-yard reception. Afful is the only NEC receiver with a 200-yard game this season and one of 11 in the FCS to achieve the feat. He was also named an NEC Prime Performer earlier this season after the Week 3 win over then-No. 21/20 Youngstown State.

John Erby, the reigning NEC Offensive Player of the Week, continued his strong play to earn his second Prime Performer honor of the season. Erby caught two touchdown passes, including a highlight-reel, one-handed grab in the third quarter that ranked No. 3 on ESPN's Top Plays. The graduate student finished with six catches for 63 yards, marking his second consecutive game and third in the last four with multiple touchdowns. Erby leads the team with 615 receiving yards and ranks third in the NEC with eight touchdown receptions, all coming in league play.

Joey Isabella extended his touchdown streak to seven games with two scores against Wagner. The Mayfield, Ohio native now has four career multi-touchdown games, including two this season. Isabella tallied five catches for 67 yards in the win, earning his second NEC Prime Performer recognition of the year. He leads the team with nine receiving touchdowns, which ranks second in the NEC and ties for 11th in the FCS.
