Perrantes and Bruzdewicz Named NEC Players of the Week

Career-day for Perrantes and 12-point outing for Bruzdewicz earn POW honors; Clements, Erby and Howard all tabbed Prime Performers

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. – Senior quarterback Darius Perrantes and graduate student kicker Brian Bruzdewicz have been named the Offensive and Special Teams Players of the Week in the Northeast Conference for Week 9, announced by the league office this afternoon. Graduate receiver John Erby, redshirt junior running back JaMario Clements and junior linebacker Ty Howard also earned NEC Prime Performer honors, as the Dukes rolled past Stonehill, 48-34, for their fifth straight win.

Darius Perrantes threw for a career-high 412 yards and five touchdowns and was an efficient 25-for-34 (74%) in the road win. The Los Angeles, Calif. native completed seven passes for 20+ yards, including four of the five touchdowns, and spread the wealth to seven different receivers with three recording a touchdown. Perrantes is now one of two FCS quarterbacks (Sam Vidlak - SFA) to have multiple games this season with five touchdown passes and one of nine to have a 400+ yard passing game. Perrantes also earned NEC Offensive Player of the Week in Week 6 after throwing five touchdowns and rushing in one in the LIU win. It is his sixth NEC Offensive Player of the Week nod of his career, which sets a new program record, eclipsing A.J. Hines' (2016-'19) five honors. Perrantes was also recognized as an honorable mention for Stats Perform FCS National Offensive Player of the Week. In three conference games, Perrantes has thrown a league-best 12 touchdowns and averaged 269.7 yards per game.

Brian Bruzdewicz accounted for a season-high 12 points on Saturday with a pair of field goals (24yd and 30yd) and six PATs. With his 6-for-6 effort on points after, the McMurray, Pa. product has moved into second place in career PATs at Duquesne with 118, passing Mark Troyan (2005-'08). Bruzdewicz has now earned an NEC Special Teams Player of the Week honor in four straight seasons and his five total are second-most in program history behind Austin Crimmins (6 in 2013-'16 career).

PRIME PERFORMERS
John Erby totaled seven catches for a career-high 125 yards and two touchdowns. He now has a team-leading 28 receptions for 354 yards (12.6 yards per catch) in his first season as Duke after transferring from Rhode Island. The Stonehill contest was the third game this season that Erby had seven catches.

JaMario Clements went over 100 yards for the third time this season, racking up 108 on 20 carries and scored one touchdown. He extended his season lead in the NEC to 688 yards (98.3 per game / 6.6 per carry). Clements, who took the ball 20 times for the third straight game has four touchdowns on the season, all in the last five games. This is Clements' third weekly honor of the season, also earning Prime Performer after 147-yard outing versus LIU and Offensive Player of the Week after a career-high 204 yards in the Week 3 win at No. 21/20 Youngstown State.

Ty Howard was in on a turnover for the second straight game, scooping a fumble recovery in the first quarter at Stonehill. He finished with a team-high and career-best eight tackles along with half a TFL. Howard is a Prime Performer for the second time this season - also earning recognition after his pick-six at Saint Francis.
