Pittsburgh, Pa. – For the second consecutive year, the Duquesne University bowling team claimed the title at the Red Flash Invitational, going 3-0 Sunday in Altoona, Pa., to conclude the event with a 12-1 (.923) record. In closing on an 11-match winning streak, the Dukes improved to 54-25 (.684) overall during the 2023-24 season.
In Baker match play Sunday at Holiday Bowl, Duquesne opened with a 4-3 victory over No. 15 Mount St. Mary's. Advancing to face Mount Aloysius, the Dukes posted a 4-0 sweep, setting up a rematch with the Mount. Again the match went seven games, with Duquesne coming out on top in the decisive game, 206-151.

In the first match against Mount St. Mary's Sunday, the Dukes fell behind, 3-0, with the Mount rolling games of 234, 217 and 203. Duquesne erased that 3-0 deficit by winning the final four games, including a 220-183 win in game six to force the deciding game. Brookover came in for the Dukes in the fourth game.
A 4-0 sweep of Mount Aloysius set up a rematch with Mount St. Mary's for the team title, with the two teams splitting the first four games. The Dukes posted a 255-222 win in game five, its highest score Sunday, before falling in game six, 184-133. Duquesne clinched the championship in game seven with its eighth game of 200 or better during play Sunday.
The Dukes now gear up for NEC #3, which is set for Saturday, Feb. 17, and Sunday, Feb. 18, in Manchester, N.H., at Yankee Lanes.
