BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Duquesne University volleyball team fell to Queens University on Saturday in the Virginia Tech Classic in three sets despite double-digit kills from freshman Avery Hobson with 12 and senior Camille Spencer with 11.
Hobson, who leads the Dukes in kills with 107 in her freshman season, also added 11 digs, good for second on the team behind sophomore Madison Grimm's 17.
For Queens (3-8, 0-0 ASUN), juniors Jordyn and Alleigh Johnson, no relation, were top-two in kills, with 12 and 10 apiece. Jordyn Johnson also added 14 digs, which was second on the team behind junior Jesse George's game-high 18 kills.
The Dukes (5-3, 0-0 A-10) will open conference play Friday with a weekend double-header at Fordham in New York City. Both Friday's and Saturday's games will be streamed live on ESPN+, as will all Duquesne volleyball games from here on out. The Dukes are 37-8 all-time vs the Rams in A-10 regular-season play.
