PITTSBURGH - Foster Loyer hit a pair of big 3-pointers in the final 1:11 to halt a Duquesne comeback as Davidson (14-14, 7-9) posted a 71-67 win over the Dukes (19-10, 9-7) on Sunday afternoon at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
Dae Dae Grant scored a game-high 20 points for the Dukes, who rallied from a 16-point second half deficit to cut it to one with 1:35 left
The defeat snapped a four-game home win streak for the Dukes who entered the game as winners of five-of-six.
Grant's fourth - and final - 3-pointer made it 64-63 with 1:35 to go.
Loyer, who finished with 15 points, answered with a step-back 3 pointer to make it a four-point game.
Jimmy Clark III, who scored 14 of his 15 of his points in the game's final 5:42, hit a pair of free throws with 1:04 left before Loyer hit another 3-pointer over the outstretched arm of
Tre Williams to make it 70-65.
Clark III scored on a drive to cut the margin to three, before
Tevin Brewer stole the ball from Loyer with 20 seconds to go.
Clark III had a 3-point attempt from the right wing rim out with :07 left, setting up a Grant Huffman free throw that sealed the game.
The Wildcats, behind 10 points from Huffman, led 36-22 at the half, as Duquesne went 1-of-11 from the arc.
Grant, the only Duke to hit a 3-pointer in the game's first 30 minutes, pulled Duquesne within 10 at 45-35, only to see Davidson answer with a Huffman 3-pointer that made it 50-35.
Huffman, who finished with 16 points, was whistled for a technical following the make and DU responded with a pair of Grant technical free throws followed by an R.J. Gunn Jr.3-pointer.
Quincy McGriff drilled another three to make it 50-43, but misfired on another 3-point attempt that could have cut it to four, before the Wildcats answered with a layup and Desmond Watson 3-pointer to build the lead back to 55-43.
DU, which went 8-of-13 from the arc in the second half, once again pulled to within seven, this time on a Clark III 3-pointer with 5:42 left.
Another Clark III 3 made it 62-56.
Clark scored twice more before Grant cut it to one.
Davidson outshot Duquesne .549 to .455.
Duquesne completes the regular-season home schedule on Wednesday, Mar. 1 at 7:00 p.m. vs. UMass (14-14, 5-11) (ESPN+).

- This was the team-high tenth 20-point game for Grant (20 points) who went 4-of-7 from the 3-point arc.
- Jimmy Clark, who picked up his fourth foul with 12:51 left, scored all 15 of his points in the second half, including 14 in the final 5:42.
- Tevin Brewer handed out a game-high four assists in 29 turnover-free minutes.
